Holy Week at South Church

March 29: Palm Sunday

10:00 a.m. Palm Sunday Service with special music and a palm procession.
Sermon: “The Battle of the Parades”.
The service will begin with a procession led by the youth and children with their palms. The sermon will look at all the unanswered questions in the story of Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem. What was his point? What was he trying to say with his display? Was this a parade or a protest?
Special Musical Guest: Sheldon Ross, trumpet.

11:15 a.m. Eggcellent Easter Gathering in the Kenseth Room. All are welcome for egg decorating, crafting, seed hunting, and fellowship.

April 2: Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is the night when we remember Jesus’ Last Supper. This service is the centerpiece of Holy Week in our tradition and we hope you will join us.

6:00 p.m. Soup and Bread Supper in the Kenseth Room.
6:30 p.m. Communion around the supper tables.
7:00 p.m. Service of Sacred Readings, Candles and Choir in the sanctuary.

April 5: Easter Sunday

6:00 a.m. Easter Dawn Service in the meadow behind the church, featuring alphorns played by Jean Jeffries and Chris Mortensen (see image below). Followed by breakfast inside!

10:00 a.m. Festival Worship Service with brass quintet and choir in the sanctuary.

Holy Week Sketching & Reflecting Activity for Families

Here’s a fun Holy Week activity for families or kids of all ages. Each day, use sketching and reflection prompts to draw on a mirror or window with a dry-erase marker and pray together.
