The church is closed Monday as we dig out from the recent snowstorm. We hope to open Tuesday. Stay warm and safe!

Baptisms, Weddings, Memorials

Baptisms

Through water at baptism, God embraces you — no matter who you are — and brings you into Christ’s Church.

When we baptize, we explain that the waters of baptism call forth the blessing already inside each person, granted to all through God’s gift of life. When baptizing an infant or child, the family promises to raise the child to be a reflection of God’s love and to follow in the way of Jesus. The church also promises to love, support, and care for you throughout your life.

Baptisms take place during our Sunday service where these promises are shared. To arrange a baptism, please call the church office at 413-253-2977 or email pastor@amherstsouthchurch.org to make an appointment with the Pastor.

Weddings

At South Congregational Church, we understand marriage in its essence to be a covenant commitment that has its foundation in the faithfulness of God’s love. The marriage ceremony is the joyous occasion on which two people unite in the mutual exchange of covenant promises.

We welcome same-gender, mixed-gender, and non-binary marriages. We welcome second marriages. We welcome interfaith and interracial marriages. We know that love is what makes a family and we are delighted to celebrate with you.

Our Pastor acts as the lead officiant of all weddings at our church. Please be in touch with our church office to schedule a time to meet to answer questions.

We hope that your wedding will be meaningful and memorable and that you will come to consider this church your home.

Memorial Services

Our pastor, Rev. Dr. Susan Cartmell, is available to support individuals and families who seek spiritual care for themselves and their loved ones who may be nearing the end of life.

Members of the church as well as the larger community who wish to hold memorial services at the church can contact the church office directly at 413-253-2977 to receive more information and communicate your needs.

The Hospitality Committee considers it part of their ministry to offer refreshments upon request for receptions following memorial services at the church. Refreshments can include desserts, coffee, tea, and juice if desired. Discussion with family members will precede final decisions. If you wish to use the services of our hospitality committee, please contact the office at 413-253-2977 for more information. If more elaborate reception arrangements are needed, we can provide you with contact information for local catering companies.
