The church is closed Monday as we dig out from the recent snowstorm. We hope to open Tuesday. Stay warm and safe!

Sermons Themes for April

Our theme for April is Surprise.

April 5 – Easter Sunday
Sermon: “Mary’s Surprise”
John 20: 1-8

April 12
Easter is more than one day, and our Bible is full of Easter stories. We read about the disciples on the Road to Emmaus in Luke 24: 13-35.
Sermon: “Right Beside You”. Jesus is often closer than we realize.
Luke 24: 13-35

April 19
“The Fourth Man”
Rev. Elka Carrier-Ladd, a Unitarian Universalist minister and hospice chaplain, will be the guest preacher as the series on Surprise continues. Her text will come from the Old Testament and focus on the story of Daniel in the lion’s den as told in Daniel 6. It’s a sermon about the new life that takes us by surprise.
Daniel 3: 1-29
Musical Guest: The Amherst College Horns, under the direction of Jean Jeffries.

April 26
“A Healthy Dose of Doubt”
Rev. Cartmell will preach on John 20:19-31. It is the story about Thomas, who needed proof to believe these Easter stories. In this sermon, we look at the role of doubt. Doubt is not all bad, but too much doubt can be stifling.
