The church is closed Monday as we dig out from the recent snowstorm. We hope to open Tuesday. Stay warm and safe!

February Sermons & Musical Guests

In the first two weeks of February, the sermons will both be about how God works.

February 1
Lost and Found: How active God is in seeking us when we have lost our way.
Luke 15:1-10.

Feburary 8
A New Look at Paradise: Our sermon will focus on one of the most powerful and troubling texts in all of scripture, the story of the Garden of Eden. We hope to find in this story a new understanding of God’s generous love.
Genesis 2:15-22; 2:25-3:7

February 15
We begin our sermon series on Prayer. We’ll be using the Lord’s Prayer as a guide for our reflection. Our sermon will be from the first
line of the prayer: Thy Kingdom Come.

February 22
Our sermon series on Prayer will continue with a sermon on “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread” using the story of manna in the wilderness
as a window on prayer. Exodus 16: 1-12 is the sermon text.
Musical Guest: Mark Fraser, cello, playing two organ and cello duos and accompanying the choir anthem.

Looking Ahead to March

March 1
Our sermon series on the Lord’s Prayer continues with a sermon about forgiveness: “Forgive us Our Debts As We Forgive our
Debtors”. What does it mean to be forgiving? How is our willingness to forgive tied to our ability to let go and allow ourselves to accept forgiveness? How do we
forgive one another? How do we forgive ourselves?
Musical Guest: David Nielsen, oboe, playing an oboe solo accompanied on piano and accompanying the choir anthem during communion.

March 8
Musical Guest: Dixie Brown, flute and Will Bridegam, piano, playing a John Rutter piece entitled Chanson during the offertory.

March 22
Musical Guest: Jean Jeffries, horn, playing a piece by Glière called Gebet (which means prayer) to conclude our series on the Lord’s Prayer.

March 29, Palm Sunday
Musical Guest: Sheldon Ross, trumpet, playing festive and serious music for Palm Sunday.
